Installation & Routine Maintenance for Corrugated Slitting Knife Systems
Proper installation and regular maintenance are the foundation of stable slitting performance. Poor alignment or irregular maintenance not only affects cutting quality, like fuzzy edges and crushed flutes, but also speeds up knife wear and even leads to unexpected breakage.
Following standardized procedures helps to maximize knife service life and reduce unplanned downtime.

Installation & Alignment Standards
Pre-installation Check
·Clean all contact surfaces of the knife holder and shaft thoroughly.
·Inspect the blade for chipping and damage, and verify its grade and dimensions meet your application requirements.
Shaft Alignment & Runout Inspection
·Calibrate shaft alignment prior to blade mounting. Excessive shaft runout will result in uneven blade wear and inconsistent cut quality.
·Use a dial indicator to verify runout remains within specified tolerances.
Knife Clearance Adjustment
·Set knife clearance according to board thickness and grade. Incorrect clearance is a common cause of poor edge quality and premature edge wear.
Uniform Clamping Check
· Ensure even clamping force across the full clamping face of the blade. Uneven clamping will induce internal stress in the blade and lead to blade breakage during operation.
Maintenance Specifications
Daily Inspection
·Inspect cutting edge condition and clamping integrity prior to each production run.
Weekly Cleaning
·Clean blade holders and shaft surface to remove dust, debris, and adhesive residue.
Monthly Calibration
·Recheck shaft runout and knife alignment to maintain long-term precision.
Regular Grinding
Arrange grinding on a fixed schedule based on actual production conditions; do not wait until edges are fully dull.
Standardized installation and maintenance routines bring longer blade life, more stable cutting quality, and lower overall production costs.
