What do tobacco producers really need?
Clean, burr-free cuts
Long-lasting blades
Minimal dust and fiber drag
What problems will occur in the process of using a knife and the causes of these problems?
Rapid wear of the blade edge, short service life;
burr, delamination or chipping of the cutting edge;
adhesion of the blade and material residue;
poor stability of the cut (vibration, noise);
local chippin.
The reasons for these problems are related to the material properties of the product, the process structure of the slitting knive, the actual working conditions, and the later maintenance.

The tobacco industry has a variety of cutting objects, such as tobacco shreds, filter rods, and packaging paper, and it is necessary to select slitting knive materials specifically. For example, tobacco shreds are fibrous, rich in oil and moisture, and tend to stick to the slitting knive during cutting. Therefore, the slitting knive needs to be anti-sticking and have a sharp edge to ensure a neat cut without pulling. Filter rods are composed of composite materials (such as acetate fiber and polypropylene), and may contain plasticizers or adhesives, with high hardness, which can easily lead to delamination and chipping. Therefore, high-hardness, high-precision, and burr-free slitting knives are required.
Secondly, the process parameters of the slitting knives, such as whether it is coated, the coating material, heat treatment process, and edge grinding accuracy, will directly affect its performance. In addition, if the operating parameters (such as rotational speed and feed rate) are not set properly during actual use, it will accelerate the wear of the slitting knive and thus affect the cutting effect.

Our blades are engineered to handle soft, deformable filter materials with ease. Using tungsten carbide, and a precision-ground, mirror-finished edge, SHENGONG knifes deliver:
✅ Clean cuts without fraying
✅ Low powder generation
✅ Extended knife life under high-speed operations
✅ Custom sizing for your machine and material needs
